The Importance of Touch

Physical contact has a positive effect on our physical and mental health. People who receive touch regularly tend to be more calm and optimistic. When we receive healthy touch, our brains produce more oxytocin and serotonin. These are chemicals that our bodies create to help us feel calm, happy, and relaxed. Touch can help reduce stress and anxiety; some studies have shown that touch also reduces blood pressure.

In our culture, it is difficult to find safe and supportive touch, especially for those without a partner/spouse. Most people only receive touch from their family members, lovers, and pets. Massage is a way to receive touch, but the focus is muscle based and is mostly blinded to emotions and the client being seen and accepted for who they are and what they are experiencing.

We know we need touch. This is why we provide Therapeutic Cuddling, to create a place for you to find safe, non-sexual, consensual touch.
